ethernet cable options

If I wanted a wired connection somewhere across the house what are my options beside running a ethernet cable and drilling holes?

 

I have another coax port in the room I need it. Is there a device that would convert it into ethernet or is that just simply what a modem/router is for? I don’t want to move my router/modem.
 

I also know of AC adapters for ethernet but doesn’t it require it to be on the same circuit? If its across the house it probably wouldnt be on the same circuit then

MoCA is what you're looking for. Full gigabit over coax. Just need to make sure there's a path from one jack to the other (through a splitter or such).

If they are just ports in the wall how would I figure out if theyre connected? Wouldnt they be no matter what?

My apartment they all came to the same spot on the back porch, but you could only connect one or two at a time or else the signal would degrade too far.

 

But that's what they make amplified splitters for (not saying you'll need one, I just like playing with neat niche tech).
