I first had this issue with my GTX 970 dGPU, and now the same issue with the GTX 760 I put in. Namely when playing any Games that are 3D, and even in Salt and Sanctuary, some Majors Areas do the same thing, the screen goes dark and I have to reboot the Computer. But I get Screen back on.

I tested the 970 last year with my TV HDMI and the same issue. Now the 760 is doing this. This happens with both Windows and Linux. I could simply buy whatever dGPU that is available, but I wonder if the same thing will happen as will with the replacement.

I tried cleaning the case out, but no luck. 2D games like SMAC work fine. However I'm thinking that the problem is the PSU or even possibly with the Motherboard. I do have a Spare EVGA Bronze PSU I can try.

Oh, the Computer including the 760 is from 2013. The Haswell i5-4670 iGPU works fine, but slow.

I'd try your spare psu, cause that does sound like the PSU is failing.

Well I already have an extra PSU, and avoid buying overpriced dGPUs. The only problem is if I need to remove anything else other then the PSU along with the removable cables.

  • 2 weeks later...

The Issue for now is fixed. I was able to play Fallout Classic by setting the resolution to 1024x768. Got bored and while tying to play Fallout 2 Classic, it start losing the display signal as well. But no way to set resolution.

Anyway in Manjaro Linux, I had to  commit  Nevoue with # in the right config file and reboot. I also ended up removing everything Nvidia as well and now Games I try so far now work. But a bit slow.

Rather Strange that is nothing wrong with the Card itself but a major driver issue? However my GTX 970 last started doing this first, but putting back in the GTX 760 fix this at the time.

Now I am going to have remove the New Nvidia Drivers and go back to default Windows 10 ones when I installed the OS.
