Controller in Battlefront 2

So I'm playing Battlefront 2 on PC and it keeps trying to make the controller a mouse. Is there a way to tell it to work as a controller and have it work like it does on console? I know that controllers are inferior, but that's how I learned gaming.

Pretty sure controllers are not supported. I'd suggest looking into how to do it without native support.

It has controller options in game, and it has controller "controls" and 90% of the controls do what they are supposed to. Sprint is roll, forward is sprint, and middle ability doesn't work.

I'm looking for if there is a way to like have the "controller" functions work better
