Vertically mounted RX 570 temp question.

HesCalledTheStig

I just ordered a Corsair iCUE 4000X RGB case along with Corsairs Vertical GPU kit.  Only after placing the order did I consider the thermals of my RX 570 being that the fans are going to be so close to the tempered glass side panel.  Is anyone else running the same GPU vertically (or a similar GPU) and what kind of temperature variations have you seen?  Would it be more worth my time and money to cancel the vertical mount and invest the $50 into another part?  Thanks!

invest the $50 elsewhere. Any GPU up against a side panel, or within a few CM is going to restricted in airflow and you will likely see a 5-10c jump in temps. If you REALLY want the vertical experience, get yourself a Cablemods conversion kit. This will push the vertical mount back to near the motherboard giving tons of room for airflow and clearance, at the cost of losing most if not all your expansion slots if you don't require there use.

I'd have to cut the metal bars between the expansion slots with the Cablemod kit wouldn't I?

Just a quick side note.  This is how it sits in my current case (side panel is off because of the glare while trying to snap a pic).  Do you think there will even be that much difference in thermals given that it sits so close to the PSU shroud as it is?  In its current case, it site at 33 degrees when idle and at load about 75 degrees.

no, you wouldn't need to modify the case at all. The Cablemod kit fits into the PCIe slots.

Also, looking at your current setup, You could still expect to see some hit to thermals even more. But yea, not a great setup currently.

Spend $50 on a better case instead.

It’s not for the case in the photo. I have a new case being delivered with the vertical GPU mount.

I’m thinking I’ll just mount it normal and spend the $50 on a new HDD instead. Lol. It’s not worth the headache just to see the fans in a budget card.
