I got the latest Rufus version and tried both exactly like that now and it still shows "insert proper boot device" on both variants.

Download Windows 10 and try installing that instead.

Hey, i am trying to get my new pc to start with win 7 ultimate 64 bit (i have extremely slow internet so i cant use win 10).

The first problem is that i cant get my usb install to work on this PC, i have tried the stick in 2 other PCs now and it works on both of them.

I tried different ways to copy the windows onto the stick with Rufus and the USB download tool, both worked on other pcs but not on mine.

The PC can find the stick both in UEFI and lagacy mode but it is not able to start the windows installation, instead it says "insert proper boot device" as if there was nothing on the stick.

If i turn of CSM the pc cant find my ssd's or my USB stick.

I have tried it with XMP on and off, swapping rams, change GPU, different SSD's, all the different USB Hubs (USB 2.0 and 3.0)

The next problem is that if i just use a SSD with a fresh installed windows from a different PC it will show the windows loading screen and then give me a blue screen for less than a second that shows 0x0000007b as the error code.

I have read a lot of things this could tell me and the most obvious seems to be that i installed windows on a different pc which is one of the reasons for this error code based on the info i got.

After restarting it a few times with windows installed on the SSD it sends me to the repair screen which checks automaticaly but cant find anything and the second i get into that screen it disables

my mouse and keyboard so i cant check anything in there myself

Any help is very appriciated.

UEFI needs GPT partitioning

CSM needs MBR partitioning

Therefore, the if you are going to use CSM the USB stick needs to be partitioned accordingly. Use the latest version of Rufus to partition the USB stick accordingly.

The error 0x0000007b is indicates there is something wrong with boot-related files.
