WATCH_DOGS ctOS Mod

Jeremytroid

Hey guys, long time viewer and first time poster! If you haven't checked out the new WATCH_DOGS game, you should.

I'm pretty excited myself, so I modded Windows 7 to look similar to the "ctOS" that appears in game.

Trailer:

Mod in Action:

Download Mod Package: (Includes all programs and images necessary)

Instructions (Also included in the package as a .txt file.)  :

ctOS Windows 7 Mod
      Jeremy Xu

ALL PROGRAMS AND IMAGES ARE INCLUDED IN THE PACKAGE

>>>Setting Launch Screen (Before Windows Intro)<<<

This step uses a program from Gigabyte called FACE WIZARD.
It may only possible to use with Gigabyte brand Motherboards,
though I haven't been able to test with other hardware.
Apologies if this doesn't work for you.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||

1-Open FACE WIZARD

2-Select BIOS (Recommended ON BOARD)

3-Select LOAD IMAGE

4-Navigate to the "bootscreen.bmp"

5-Open "bootscreen.bmp"

6-Select AUTO

|||||||||||||||||||||||||

If it works correctly, the image should appear in the left window.
Any errors that may occur will appear in the scrolling text below.

>>>Setting Windows Log-On Screen<<<

THIS STEP REQUIRES REGEDIT. BE SURE YOU ARE COMFORTABLE WITH THIS.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||

1-Open REGEDIT

2-Right click HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

3-Select FIND

4-Search for OEMBACKGROUND

5-Double click OEMBACKGROUND on the right

6-Set the value to 1

7-Navigate to   C:\Windows\System32\oobe\info\backgrounds
    YOU MAY NEED TO CREATE THE FOLDER "info" INSIDE "oobe" AND FOLDER "backgrounds" inside "info"

8-Place the image "backgrounddefault.jpeg" inside folder "backgrounds"

|||||||||||||||||||||||||

(The profile image covers the "ctOS" symbol on log-in. The next step is not required if you can accept this.)

>>>Removing Log-On Profile Image<<<

THIS STEP REQUIRES EDITING CRITICAL .dll FILES. BE SURE YOU ARE COMFORTABLE WITH THIS.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||

1-Find "authui.dll" in directory  C:\Windows\System32\

2-Create a copy of "authui.dll" before editing

3-Gain ownership of the file (Properties>Security>Advanced>Owner>Edit>Users>*type user name*>Apply)

4-Open the copy of "authui.dll" with RESOURCE HACKER

5-Open UIFILE on the left

6-Open the file "1300" in EVERY folder (12400, 12401, 12402)

7-Find the line  <ZoomableElement id="atom(PictureContainer)"
CTRL+F WORKS HERE

8-Add   height="0"  afterwards. (Make sure this is added to all 3 file "1300" under each folder (12400, 12401, 12402)
THE CORRECT LINE SHOULD LOOK LIKE THIS:   <ZoomableElement id="atom(PictureContainer)" height="0" layout="filllayout()">

9-Compile the script after editing each file "1300"
THIS NEEDS TO BE DONE FOR EACH SCRIPT IN ALL 3 FOLDERS. IGNORE FOLDER 14000.

10-Rename or delete the original "authui.dll" (In the original directory), add the edited "authui.dll" to this directory.
MAKE SURE THE EDITED .dll IS CALLED authui.dll

11-Reboot. All changes should have applied, and startup should look similar to the video.
