New Storage: Clone or Copy?

Go to solution Solved by WhitetailAni,

As long as it's not a boot drive, copy+paste works perfectly fine.

Also, make sure to initialize it as a GPT disk... please?

Hey Guys,

I'm about to switch out my 1TB hard drive for a new 2TB. It's not my boot drive, but I have some low use steam games, school documents and some programs that aren't on startup automation.

I can either just copy paste the files and change the drive letter or I can use the built-in cloning function of my dual HDD dock.

I'm only afraid that there's some hidden partition or config files that can't be just copy pasted.

What would you guys suggest?

Thank you in advance!

Old HDD: WD Blue 1TB

New HDD: Seagate Barracuda 2TB

My PC is a fast boyo:

6700K - 32GB - 1080 - 256GB EVO

Me.

Stupid Windows 7 install from 2010 that I have to boot into Safe Mode to convert which will prevent me from listening to Phil laugh at Jay *mumbles and grumbles*

PLEASE STOP [Killing] ME I WILL GIVE Y OU ANOTHER DEAL.

Honestly, they're both the same.  Copy paste or cloning does the same exact thing.  Cloning is just a fancy word for copying.

Since it's not boot, no hidden registry stuff.    Use whichever method you  prefer.
