Hello to all is my first  post so I’m sorry if already exits but couldn’t find any were else. My question is the next:

I recently changed the thermal pads on my 2070 gygabyte so I put 0.5 mm on the vrams and 1mm on the rest according to what I did measure and there is no gaps as far as I can see but my question is that if I made it right choice on putting 0.5 I’m scared that can damage memory in time

ty so much to all

i'd suggest u take the safe approach and put 1mm thermal pads everywhere, the extra will just be squished down

Well if it’s the same thickness as previously used, and the density matches I don’t see why it wouldn’t work.

Well density doesn’t much the one that came with the product was a bit more sticky than the one that I use so I thing it dose not compress like the other but I think I doesn’t harm to put the 1 mm one no?

Can’t say. If the new stuff is denser, it means it’s out of spec for what the cooler was designed for. Can potentially cause issues. But comes down to design, most cards using a mid plate it won’t matter as much.  But solid cards like a blower can be effected a lot, even bowing the card in several places.

So what would you suggest in this case

Can’t say as I don’t know what the card uses. If the gpu temps are good then it’s prolly fine if everything else is making proper contact.

The gpus temperature is really fine so I should stick with the 0.5 because there no way tú measure the temperature of the vram
