Hello everyone,

I'm hoping to get some build advice on a new PC. I've been fortunate enough to secure a RX 6800XT and hoping to finish off the rest of my build now.

Budget (including currency): No real hard limit, but not looking to break the bank.

Country: Canada

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Gaming primarily. No streaming. The most demanding game I'd say I'm currently looking to play is Escape from Tarkov.

Other details Would be playing at 1080p 144hz for now, until I decide to upgrade my monitor.

The $0.00 items are from my current PC that I hope to reuse.

Sorry if I messed up the formatting of this post. As some additional information, I'm really not sure about motherboards, RAM, and Power supplies.

I was originally hoping to go with an AMD processor for this build, but think I may just go Intel instead of waiting longer. I know this is entirely up to me, but do you think it'd be worth the wait to see if AMD CPU stock improves?

Depends on how long you're willing to wait, cause the stock might improve in a few months or it might not. So if you're willing to wait for a few months then you can wait, otherwise just go Intel.

fyi intel 11th gen will come out in a month with z590 boards. But the build looks good. Is there a memory express location nearby to you?

Thank you for the feedback. I must admit, now that I've finally been able to get a graphics card, I'm getting a bit antsy to go ahead and finish the build. I've mainly been keeping my eye on the newer AMD CPUs while I've been trying to get the GPU. I've read about the benefits of pairing the AMD CPU with GPU and just thought maybe it'd be worth it to wait and see if AMD CPUs come back in stock soon, so that I could take advantage of that.

Thanks for the tip and the feedback. I do have both Memory Express and Canada Computers near me. I intend to get my parts from those companies primarily.

Yea if you go with an AMD cpu you'll be able to turn on SAM easily since your have an AMD gpu as well which gets you free performance in some games, although intel and nvidia have been talking about enabling it too its just a bit of an unknown for the time being.

Yea I heard intel 11th gen on z590 will get pcie4 support for the gpu and one m.2 ssd so that plus the bump in cpu performance might make the wait worthwhile if you are deciding between intel 10th and 11th. Although I would recommend you go with AMD especially since you have an AMD gpu, specifically the 5800x since you said you are mostly gaming and not streaming, however you might be waiting on stock to come in.

edit: id also recommend this cpu cooler to you, its $17 more than the one you have on your list but i think you may like the look more, plus its at ME so you can just go pick it up instead of shipping https://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX74277

and for $30 more you can get a fully modular corsair 850w gold psu from ME https://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX70906

and if you want to save $40 you can get the version of the 10900k without integrated graphics https://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX81339

ME also has the same motherboard and even tho its $10 more they will do price matching if you show them the newegg price when you buy in-store https://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX00112340

same for the ram, they will price match it but fyi the newegg price is a promo that ends in 4 days https://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX66405

This is amazing. Thanks so much for the help! I've swapped out the fan and power supply on your recommendation. I'll be sure to do the price match wherever I can with Memory Express. They don't have store stock on the CPU, so if I decide not to wait for AMD and go Intel, I'll likely get the CPU from Canada Computers as I know they have it.

No problem. Youre right the hamilton location is out of i9-10900k and i9-10900kf, just check stock the day you go or get it from newegg or canadacomputer. ME usually restocks stuff fairly often. ME will try to sell you an "IPR Replacement Plan" basically a store warranty, just say no since its a waste of money imo, the standard (free) 30 day warranty is more than enough for returns so long as you complete your build in that time period.

So yeah your choice of amd ryzen 5800x with b550 or x570 board, or else intel 11th with z590 board, or else intel i9-10900k/kf with z490 board.

I'm generally the type of person who upgrades their PC once every 5 years. Maybe even a little longer. Do you think your processor suggestion would last quite a while?
