Default audio device keeps changing

Hi there. I've got a bit of a frustrating problem I'm needing help with.

First off I use a sound blaster z audio card with logitech 5.1 1000 watt rms speakers. My front panel audio is also connected to the card. So basically i do everything through my audio card.

Over the past month, occasionally when I boot my computer, my default audio device changes. It's not just the playback device but the default itself that changes. For example. Sometimes when I boot the audio is set to my monitors speakers. Sometimes when I boot its defaulted to the motherboards onboard audio. Sometimes when I boot it defaults to my ps4 controllers headphone Jack.

Now I reset the default device back to my audio card speakers every time. That should be the end of it. But for some reason the default keeps changing. Between this and a few other things I've seen lately I'm beginning to think I have a bit of system corruption. Maybe my xmp profile isnt as stable as I thought.

Have you tried disabling any unwanted audio devices in Device Manager?

I know this a 'workaround' and not really a solution but probably the best best.

I have the same issue with my wires and wireless network cards competing with each other. I want to be wired but my wireless card keeps connecting first. I just disabled the wireless card and that was that.

That's a good idea that actually. I never thought of that. I know there is options in windows sound control panel for disabling devices. And I know I can disable the onboard via the bios.
