I am a broke 20 year old and need advise. There are several GPUs on Ebay and such, that have "for parts/not working" tagged to them. They have descriptions such as, "error code 43" and "no output on screen" and are at REALLY low prices. Would it be worth the gamble to buy a GPU with these descriptions from a reputable seller? If so, what prices would be worth it? For reference, there are a 980Ti(no output) and a GTX 1060(error code 43) with other better ones as well. I am extremely tech savvy and can work my way around a wire or two.

Thanks in advanced:)

if they have tags like "doesnt work/ for parts" dont buy it cuz theyre obvioulsy broken. sure it can be a easy fix. but 99% of the time its not. even if youre very "tech savy". buying one of these could come out as a flop and then u have a broken GPU wich u cant fix and less money then before.

If it really was that easy to fix GPUS more ppl would do it and re-sell them.

Most of such cards will be already diagnosed and whoever did this decided that repairing them does not make sense. They will have dead GPU-s, holes burned through PCB by power components failing and such. Buying them makes sense, for example, if you have the same card with working GPU but some other component which is hard to find is bad. Or if you just want a bunch of spare parts like memory.

Very, very few of them might be sold by people who simply want to get rid of dead card. But even in such cases buying them only makes sense if you have a repair shop, spare parts, tools and knowledge including how to solder bga (gpu, ram).

Buying them and hoping that you'll just plug it in and it will work is absolutely pointless. It will not.
