Virtual Machine Problem Windows 95

I installed windows 95 on my vm and it works but i cant install vmware tools (i just get an error)

What version of VMware Tools are you trying to install? Is it supported in the release notes?

If it's a recent version of VMware tools you need Windows 7 or higher.

i downloaded an older one that isnt recent( i think so at least)
