EK Distro Block Pump Issues - HELP!

Hi guys,

After turning on my main livingroom system (spec in the sig below) yesterday and watching my cpu temps climb out of control, a reboot into the BIOS quickly showed my pump rpm at zero.

A couple of reboots later and it kicked back in but after another reboot it stopped again and is now in a 1 in 10 chance of working properly.

I tried switching PWM headers on the board to no avail.

This morning I removed the pump and hey presto, when I boot the pc for a few seconds the pump works when not fitted to the the block. Pop it back in and it doesn't work.

I even have the front o11 distro plate spare so I swapped pumps.... Same damn thing! When fitted to the block it doesn't work but when out on the kitchen table no probs.

The loop is clean as a whistle with no signs of reside and there doesn't appear to be anything obstructing the pump when fitted to the block. I even carefully guided the pump into place whilst spinning to see if it was rubbing against anything... Nope! Kept on spinning fine. Power off and back on again and nothing!

This once had got me properly stumped.

Any ideas?

Well the pump does kinda levitate when powered. So it could move up and rub.
But if you leave the cable disconnected for control, does it still eventually stop?

I think I fixed it.

Strip and rebuild seems to have done the trick. Not sure why the other pump didn't want to work when fitted but when I placed the original back in place it spun up straight away and hasn't missed a beat since.

That particular system has spent the last 6 months powered down so maybe it just needed a bit of TLC. Its back in place and now being used every day so hopefully everything will be ok.
