Country: UK

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for:  I play GMOD, Star wars battlefront 2, Open world games and rainbow six siege

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I will also need to be getting a new monitor at this price.

Right now I have:

Nvidia GTX 970

Intel core i5-6400 

8gb of ram 

It is an Acer predator desktop

As of right now its a 4 year old system and is on the verge of actually just blue screening I can't play most games without the GPU sounding like a jet taking off

Clean it out and repaste the card. If you want to build a system you'll have to use the current gpu anyways as prices for gpu's are so high right now you can't get any decent card in your build sadly till they come down.

Your PC is just fine... If a GTX 970 and Skylake i5 are having trouble at 1080p, then it's not because your parts are too weak.

This is an option. I did not include a GPU because as others have said, the prices are nuts right now. You can reuse yours, or there is ~£320 left in the budget for something used maybe.

The B550 DS3H can handle a maxed out 5800X, so a 5600X won't be a problem for it. Check out the Motherboard VRM tier list.

I would not recommend going any cheaper for the monitor. 1440p 75Hz freesync is a decent entry point. But a 1080p 144Hz might be a good option for cheaper. If you wanted a slightly better motherboard, this would be a good option for a step up:
