Minecraft server setup/port forwarding?

Hi, I want to set up a (Minecraft) server to allow my friends to join. I've followed a youtube video and set the server up with port forwarding however it allows me to log onto it but when I give my friends the same IP it doesn't let them almost like it's only local or something..? I currently have a Virgin media superhub.

Can anyone help? Much appreciated, thank you.

Have you port forwarded correctly? Did you give them your local IP (192.168.1.1 or .1.2) ? Do they include the port number at the end (:25565) ?

Hope I could help!

I used my IPV4 Address and then 25565 for start/end if that's what you mean

yes did you type it in the server config file, if you did you should not have and did you type in your correct address in for you computer like @TheDoubleYGamer posted but with your specific address at the end
