RAM Woes...

Hey guys,

I built my first couple in late January and it went smoothly. I originally tested the RAM for about about an hour with MemTest64 and came back with no errors.

About a week ago I started getting BSOD and identified the RAM as having hardware faults. This was confirmed both with MemTest64 and Windows Memory Diagnostic. The Bios are fully updated and windows is fully updated. The computer will run with the faulty ram but will BSOD with anything memory-intensive (like a game).

I ordered an identical replacement kit.  It came today and after installing it the computer will not boot at all, even to the point of getting a signal to the monitor. I reinstalled the old ram and everything turns on fine. I reseated the new RAM several times before giving up and putting the old RAM. I even tired installing each of the new sticks with one of the old sticks and the computer would not boot in any configuration.

My questions are:

1) what could have caused the original ram to test fine originally but begin showing faults a couple weeks later? Computer is plugged into a UPS and thermals have always looked great.

2) what about this new RAM not booting at all? Have I just been really unlucky in my ram to date?

Any input is appreciated!

BIOS and Windows update can break stability on memory, Zen is not a fully mature ecosystem. I assume it's stable if left at stock settings (2133 CL15, i.e. disabled XMP/DOCP)?

Hmm... From what I can gather, maybe you have a defective memory controller (in your CPU). You can try swap out your CPU and see if the old RAM works fine.

I apologies if my comments or post offends you in any way, or if my rage got a little too far. I'll try my best to make my post as non-offensive as much as possible.
