Hey guys, I had no idea on where to post this, so I'm posting here.

So I have an R9 270X Sapphire AMD graphics card and it's not been running good since when I installed it. Sometimes the screen blinks dark and a message pops up afterwards saying "AMD Driver has stopped responding and has been recovered." Sometimes it just seems to make the current program using the graphics card go completely white and make it stop responding. And at times it just smudges the screen and any time I do something the smudges start to move. And occasionally I have little imperfections in my image.

I have never had this while playing games, only applications. But if I have a game open in the background; it's more likely to make the aforementioned items appear. My rig is a 700w power supply, Asus Z87-Plus Motherboard, and an Intel i5 3.4 GHz. I'm running Windows 8 and have the latest drivers (14.2 beta) and have uninstalled previous driver versions. I have an entry in my graphics card's regedit titled "TdrDelay" with a value of 8, I put it there after following a guide from Microsoft.

I have posted things in the AMD Forums to no avail,

so I'm really hoping I can fix this with the help of you guys and I thank you in advance.

Get the latest stable drivers, you might be getting these issues because the drivers you are running on are in beta.

I have not had any NVidia Drivers, and yes I have uninstalled any old AMD drivers.

You should use Driver Sweeper or other driver removing tools and uninstall your drivers. Then, download the latest Drivers from AMD's Website.

Unstable OC?

I have not overclocked anything.

I'm double thinking about getting this card now. ? :/

It's alright if you want to get it. I think it's alright with running games. I'm kind of thinking I did something wrong.

I'll try that when I get home.

I'm double thinking about getting this card now. ? :/

I have the Vapor-X version and its perfectly fine, just had a few crashes. Not really a big deal since I'm running 13.12 drivers, and its AMD. ;)

To the OP, try wiping ALL graphics drivers, including IGP drivers if any. There a program called Display Driver Uninstaller, linked on the Driver Sweeper download page that you can use for that.

As everyone is saying, use some type of sweeper to ensure that all traces of the old driver are gone.  I have the Gigabyte flavor 270x in crossfire and when using the beta (14.1) drivers, they were garbage.  I went back to 13.12 and they run like a champ.  Wait for the 14 series to come out of beta.  Sapphire is a great brand as they are exclusive AMD.....so they tend to get how AMD sets up their gpu's better than most.

Case: Silverstone SG09B Motherboard: MSI Z10 Morter M-ATX CPU: I5-6600K  Ram: Corsair LP 2400 DD4 16GB GPU: MSI RX 480 Storage: Seagate HDD Baracuda 2TB x2, Crucial M200 500GB SSD X2 (Raid 0)PSU: Silverstone Strider Gold 1000W w/PP05E Kit

"When to say  WTF  ....$2K rig only used for Minesweeper and Internet Checkers marathons...."

Thanks for all the replies guys.

I have tried searching for Driver Sweeper, but I came over people saying it can damage registry. Is that a high chance?

If you don't mess around with it, no. As I said above, use Display Driver Unistaller. It seems to be better than Driver Sweeper in my experience.
