microsoft surfacebook Surface Book Display Adhesive

Hi guys,

 

I recently acquired a 1st gen Surface Book through work which had a dead SSD. I was able to get the display off in one piece and replace the SSD to get it running again but now I'm trying to get the display to stick down with some 3M double sided tape (supposedly for use on tablet screens. Basically the tape sucks, I've made sure both surfaces have been cleaned with alcohol and used as much surface area of tape as possible as well as heating around the edge and applying even pressure with a number of relatively heavy objects for a few hours. I've now taken the screen off three times, cleaned, applied new tape and left with weights on for ages with no success.

 

Does anyone recommend any adhesive tapes that they've had success with before? Or if I'm just doing something blatantly wrong? xD
