So I accidentally used the wrong screw type while screwing in my motherboard to the standoffs.
Basically the screw went in 2/3 of the way and is now stuck, it freely spins anti clockwise while making clicking noises.

I can’t take out the motherboard obviously, as that screw is holding it in place. I can also see the screw tip from the rear panel of the case.

I tried pliers, but failed. Maybe I’m just weak but it would not budge.

Stick your thumb on the bottom of the standoff (as shown in pic #2) then at the same time press down (or up I suppose would be more accurate) as hard as you can on the standoff while also turning the top with a screwdriver. This should force it to move up to a point where the thread isn't destroyed and screw out.

Once you've got the standoff out of the case you'll need to hold it with some needlenose pliers and turn the screw again with the screwdriver to get the screw out of the board.

More worryingly though, you might not be able to get a new standoff in the case since you threaded the hole.

I think I understand what you mean. I’ll try it soon and let you know, thanks for the help.

I’m getting a new case anyway so shouldn’t be a problem
