( HELP REQUIRED ) Black screen crashes while gaming

Hi everyone,

When playing games for around 5 minutes or so my screen goes black and the display driver seems to crash. The PC is still on, GPU fans still running and everything seems to be running as normal within the PC apart from the screen going black. The only way to get the screen to come back is to hard reset the PC. I was getting this with my Nvidia 1060 6gb and couldn't find a fix so upgraded to a 2080 super OC but the problem is still occurring. I have upgraded my PSU to a corsair 850W so from a 650W so it's not a PSU issue. I've ran Memtest and found no problems with the 32GB 3200mhz ram I have. Temps on my Ryzen 2700x are low and the GPU temp when the black screen occurs is only around 68c. Windows is fully up to date. I have the latest nvidia drivers installed.

I'm at my wits end with this now as it's only happening when gaming. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Are you using XMP or OCing anything? If so, turn that off.

Additional troubleshooting steps to take:

(1) Try with only 1 stick of RAM

(2) Update BIOS

(3) Look in Event Viewer and either the System subsection or the Application subsection, look for Red ! or Yellow Triangles for issues that may be related (if you find any, post full error messages here)

NOTE: I no longer frequent this site. If you really need help, PM/DM me and my e.mail will alert me.

Thanks for the reply.

Tried with 1 ram stick but have the same issue. Just updated the bios in my B450A-M and it happened again. Nothing in red or yellow in the event viewer. It's very strange. It happens at random times when only playing games. The weird thing is the same happened with my 1060 6GB. Now with my 2080 super OC with a brand new 850w power supply so it must be board related or windows related?
