Question

xblchronic
Is this modem and router good together?

I will be upgrading my internet plan to 50 or 105 mbps soon.

And will it be better to get a 2in1 modem or buy a modem and a router separately?

Any modem and router should work together as long as you have a connection between your router and your modem. And have the DHCP disabled on your modem.

I am not familiar with this particular modem but for many people buying a seperate router can be a couple of these things:

- Wireless Range

The wireless range of the router can be much greater than a standard 2 in one router and modem

- LAN Speeds

Routers can feature gigabit LAN speeds unline some modems.

- Easy replacement

- Featureset of the software

Yes, its the comcast plan for 50mbps. I can rent a modem or buy one so i prefer buying one.

I always compare the box that converts the fiber to ethernet with a modem, even though it's not a modem.

But you're right.
