Hi

I recently bought a new Asus Zenbook Pro (UX535LI-E2018T). It has been great but just today it randomly goes to sleep when I'm actively using the laptop (like as in moving the mouse, typing or watching a video).

Upon inspecting event viewer, it says the reason is as follows:

Quote

The system is entering connected standby

Reason: SC_MONITORPOWER.

What is this? How do I stop this from happening.

Here is a screenshot for more info. I have filtered the view to show only Kernal-Power related items. Not all of these are caused by SC_MONITORPOWER (ie. some of the time it is me closing the lid of the laptop). But as for an interval, it seems to occur exactly ever 30 minutes. You can see below it happens at 8:30:54pm, and then previously at 8:00:54pm. These are both SC_MONITORPOWER. It also happened earlier at 3:11:46pm and then at 3:41:46pm (though this is out of the screenshot).

WHAT'S GOING ON?

Edit: This may help as well

Why is this happening every half an hour if my sleep timer is set to 10 minutes.

Hugo.

I have a new Dell Precision 5560 that is doing the same thing, but its not even waiting 30 minutes or any standard amount of time but same event "The system is entering connected standby Reason: SC_MONITORPOWER." and the workstation locks while in use.

@keef I have a user with a Dell Precision 5760 who was dealing with the exact same issue. It's advertised with Dell's "ExpressSign-in" feature. He found that you can disable this feature using Dell Optimizer: https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-us/000130242/proximity-sensors-and-walk-away-lock-functionality-may-report-the-system-locking-to-quickly.
