More Phenom troubles :)
Specs of build:
Phenom II X4 955
Asus M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3

Windows 7 Home Premium

1TB WD Caviar Green (SSD is priority 1 for this)

I've got it fully updated, have Bitdefender on it, and now I'd just like to set up Remote Access.
But it won't work.
I have the computer's name (Phenom) and the only profile name on there "MC Server" but it can't find it.
This works both ways - I can't connect to my tower via the Phenom tower.
Here is the error it gives me on either tower:

Quote

Remote Desktop can't connect to the remote computer for one of these reasons:

1) Remote access to the server is not enabled
2) The remote computer is turned off
3) The remote computer is not available on the network

Make sure the remote computer is turned on and connected to the network, and that remote access is enabled.

1. I have checked that it is.

2. It's not - I can hear and see it.

3. Each tower can see the other in the "Network" part of File Explorer.

PLEASE STOP [Killing] ME I WILL GIVE Y OU ANOTHER DEAL.

If you ping the hostname from the other machine, can it resolve it?

Can you RDP using the IP address?

Tried with firewall disabled? If it works with it disabled, allow TCP 3389 on the firewall.

EDIT: Scrap that. W7 Home Premium doesn't support acting as an RDP server. How have you confirmed remote access is enabled?

Yes.
I have unchecked and checked the box just to make sure.

That's remote assistance, not remote desktop. As I've said, remote desktop isn't supported by W7 Home Premium.

I had it working before, though with 7.
Though I was using Pro.
Is that the problem?

Yes, Windows 7 Pro supports it, Home Premium does not. There are other options. I used to use RDP Wrapper on my non-pro systems before and it worked okay.

This is what you'd see on Pro:

I have stuck Pro on there (unactivated of course) and am now running into my credentials not working.

I'm a bit confused as to what I'm putting in the "User name" option - is it the username of the computer I'm connecting to, or my username? And what do I put for the password when Windows Security pops up?

You need to enter a username on the computer you're connecting to, and the corresponding password for that account. You need to make sure your account is either specified in the users who can connect to the PC via RDP, or add it to the administrators group, which automatically has access over RDP when it's enabled.

Generally, you'd want to preface it with .\ to specify you're logging in with a local account.

So like this:

.\ragnarok0273
Password

EDIT: Also, the computer doesn't have a username, it has a hostname. Username is purely for user accounts.
