Hi all, I recently bought a DS920+, and set it up successfully, but I am moving to my native country in a few months, so is it okay for me to change the physical location of my NAS? Will there be anything I have to change in the settings of the NAS? Will i lose my data or something? This is my first NAS, so i do not have any experience. Thanks in advance!

Do you lose data if you move your laptop around or to a different country?

No, so no worries :)

If you do have a static IP, make sure it has a DHCP option enabled or a network address in the "new" network.

Changing the physical location is not going to wipe your data from the harddrive(s). Other than that you should only need to set it up on the new network.

One thing to look out for is power. North America uses only 120V, whereas the EU uses 240V.

Plugging a 120V only device into a 240v power outlet will blow it up. I doubt the drives inside would have any kind of surge protection, so they would be fried as well.

I will be moving within Asia, which has 240v and I have checked it, so I don't think power will be a problem.

Thank you so much for the reply!!
