PC Modding cost

Go to solution Solved by GhostRoadieBL,

Depending on the final product look I would be looking at $25-40 per hour for skilled and clean building, most of the systems I've built aren't hard line so it's definitely worth more but the least I have charged for softline open loop with some extra simple mods (shrouds, painting etc) is 200$

Hello! I am in desperate need of help. I found someone locally to build a PC for me and do some modding to the case. Examples; adding PSU shroud, custom cable sleeving. Open loop, hard line cooling with 2 reservoirs. Engraving silhouette on the case. Custom fan covers.

So my question is how much do I pay him? He has told me that he will log all his hours and then leave it up to me to pay him what I think is fair but I honestly have no clue what range I should be in. $200-$500 or $1,000 or more??? Thank you for any help.

I have already bought every single part. I am purely wondering what I should pay him for labor and assembly.

if you DIY you'll definitely be spending more than $1000 on something like that being the loop the most expensive thing

Sorry I left out some key info. I have all the parts purchased. Just clueless on what to pay him for labor and assembly.

That's still a sample size of one guy doing this on the side,it really depends on how much time it takes for them and access to equipment. I can go to my normal job and use the workshop full of fabrication tools, paint bays, walnut blasters, everything I could want is available so the "time" portion is small for me. If they are doing things from home or have done some/their own I would base it solely on the final results and don't think about the time as much.

Alot of beginners will reduce their reported hours due to inexperience, if they say they spent 10h working I'd likely pay them for 12h.
