Display port stoped working.

Good day people, I have a dual monitor setup.

GTX 1070 G1 gaming. (rev 2)
my main gaming monitor using HDMI 144hz 1080p.
my secondary monitor also uses HDMI but the gtx 1070 only have 1 HDMI port so I connected the display via DP to HDMI cable, also a 1080p display 60hz, the screen worked like this for almost 6monthes now but suddenly the display is reporting no signal. 
I checked to see if it was the display but no problem, connected the display via the HDMI cable and it worked, I turned off the display unplugged all the cabled and left for 20 hours, even hit the reset on the display itself. 
I checked to see if there was a GPU update that caused my problem but nothing was installed yesterday. I have an idea that it is my 1070 Display port that is causing me this problem.
I am an IT Tech but I don't understand what is going on or how to fix this problem.
Please help.
