PC Freezing Seemingly Randomly

So my PC freezes at random intervals but I have no clue why. I did a clean install of windows thinking it was a software issue but that didn’t work. Ram mentest86 for 7 1/2 hours (4 cycles), updated my mobo bios, swapped the ram with two other sticks I have.

I have had this prebuilt since December 11th, the first freeze which required a hard restart was December 22nd, after a hard restart (holding down the power button) it worked fine for a few days until Christmas Day the 25th. Since then my PC has been freezing more often, around every 2-90 minutes. It seems like it freezes sooner if I play a game.

I’m out of ideas and at my wits end here. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Specs:

-Samsung 860 evo 250gb (windows)

-asus tuf 3080

-Gigabyte z490 aorus elite mobo

-32gb gskill ripjaws V 3200mhz

-i7 10700k

-DEEPCOOL GAMERSTORM RGB 240mm CASTLE 240EX Liquid Cooler

-Corsair RM750 psu

If you've got an i7 10700k then your PSU is not very good. It could also be faulty components. Stress test your components after it crashes and then whatever component crashes first, would be the bottleneck and potentially faulty. If one of your components are super slow/ under expectations then that could be why, or your display is trash.

Not sure what you mean? That PSU is 750W, well over the needed wattage for the 10700k and 3080 and is 80+ Gold which is great efficiency so a great PSU.

We can rule out the RAM itself, as you have tested other sticks so is very unlikely that is the issue. Here are a few things you can try.

Have you checked the temps? Unlikely it is an issue due to that but it is worth checking.

I had a similar issue and it happened to be XMP making it crash. Try putting the memory back to normal (if it isn't already).

Are all your drivers up to date?

As you said, it usually starts when you start a game, again unlikely, but just make sure all 2 PCIe cables are plugged into your PSU. (I believe it is two with the 3080)

It could possibly be faulty hardware, but best to try everything else possible first.

Yeah I keep all my drivers up to date. I even swapped out the psu for another I have and it still crashes, and the same way too, sometimes in games or even soon after entering windows. And my temps idle and load range from 30C to around 70-75C for both cpu and GPU.
