Hello,

as the topic says, I have 2TB older HDD, which started to click and fail to write new files. As there are many of my family photos, I need to "safely" copy the files to the new 4TB HDD I bought. As it is already clicking, I want to reduce the load on it as much as possible. ATM both drives are completely disconnected so it isn´t initialised on startup until I have everything prepared for the backup.

My question is:
Is there any software that is done for these situations? If the file/sector causes copy issue, I would like to skip it and try it in the end, when the rest of the data is safely copied. I don´t want to loose everything because something at the beggining is causing issues and makes the clicking even worse.

I know something, but definately don´t classify myself as expert, so if it requires Unix, some short manual or advices would be welcome.

Thank you and Merry Christmas

PS: I know, I know, I broke the basic rule of backing up on several independent drives on different locations. Already got that covered once/if this data gets recovered.
