I read about various issues with mixing ram(instability, crash, etc). I mixed ram a few times in the past like 2x1GB+2x2GB(s775 DDR2) or 2x2GB+2x4GB(AM3+ DDR3) and 4GB+8GB(DDR4 Zen2 laptop) without issues.

I'm thinking about getting a cheap 2x4GB kit because I run out of ram sometimes.

Curent specs: R7 3800X, Prime X370-Pro, 2x8GB HyperX Predator HX430C15PB3K2/16

Planing to get 2x4GB HX430C15PB3K2/8

Mobo QVL has this ram in the list and says that I can run 2x8 or the 4x8 kit at 3000MHz.

I know that back at launch we had problems running ram at advertised speed even with just two sticks, but with the latest BIOS i'm able to run my ram at 3000MHz.

How much difference would it make for the IMC if I use 24GB insted of 32GB?
