Lowering Maximum processor state

Hello, I'm currently using a Ryzen 7 3700x with a 2060super and I've been getting a high temp on my cpu and gpu when I play games like cyberpunk 2077. The cpu and gpu usually starts at 70c and after a few minutes of playing, it's at around 80c for both. I tried lowering my maximum processor state to 80% instead of the default 100% for the AMD Ryzen High Performance power plan. Is this safe for my pc and for the game? My goal is to just lower the temp of at least my cpu, if able the gpu as well so that I can use my pc for long term as it is brand new. Please help me out thanks!

Yes, that is safe to do. It will reduce your performance, though.

 

A better option would be to somehow improve the airflow in your case. Maybe turning your fans up, installing new fans, cleaning out the dust, or a combination thereof.

80C on the GPU is fine. 80C on the CPU is fine as well but too close to the edge for my liking. Check if the cooler makes good contact with the CPU and reapply thermal paste if you have some. Check case airflow, you want a good mix of intake and exhaust fans. One case fan in the  front and one in the rear won't do the job.
