Hello everyone, I have got a massive problem and have tried nearly everything to resolve it. So I'm aiming to simply setup a home cloud of sort. I have got a router that my ISP have given me, so this router is equipped with a USB port and hey, you can actually connect a portable storag+

The chain I'm trying to create is in the attachment PDF, has anyone encountered such a problem before?

Routers from Netgear or ASUS with a USB port usually have some kind of built-in SMB sharing functionality, allowing you to share the USB storage device across your network, although the performance and functionality of these router USB ports can be rather limiting compared to using a real NAS from a company like Synology.

You'll want to make sure the ISP provided equipment doesn't have the USB port disabled, as many ISP provided modems' firmware intentionally disable the USB ports on their modems because ISP's don't want to spend the time / effort supporting all the use cases of such port. If the USB port is disabled, you'll need a third party router or a NAS to share storage across your network.

Hello Kirashi,

I have tried 2 different routers, both with USB functionality enabled.

Tilgin HG2381 (initial and desired one) for some reason is limiting the speed when I'm trying to upload on to it.

The ASUS AC68U is messing up my LAN connections and the only way I can upload files to the HDD via it's USB port, is through their AIcloud which is accessed through the browser, meaning that, I cannot use my convenient/traditional drag and drop feature (so annoying) and have to use their ''clever'' buttons to complete basic tasks.

The aim is, essentially, to simply, access a certain IP address (that network storage) within the windows explorer, create a shortcut on the desktop for it and use this directory to upload and download files. So 'Tilgin HG2381' does that but with only this major problem of upload speed limit of 355kbps
