Error: unknown error when mounting /dev/sda2

So I have an old laptop with a hard drive and I need the pictures that are on that hard drive. It's a ntfs partition. When I try to boot into Windows I get the bluescreen "unmountable boot volume" and when I try to mount it in Ubuntu I get "Error when mounting /dev/sda2 at /media/[path-to-disk]: Unknown error when mounting /dev/sda2.

Does somebody know how I can get the data from this hard drive?

(note: don't lecture me about backups, it's not my laptop)

How old is it?
If it's new enough (e.g. it uses SATA) and you have a PC with at least 2 SATA ports (and cables), you should be able to take it out and connect it to your PC and get the data off that way.

If it's not (uses 44-pin IDE, SCSI, or some proprietary connector) then I don't know.

PLEASE STOP [Killing] ME I WILL GIVE Y OU ANOTHER DEAL.

I've plugged it into my pc and it gives the same error (I use manjaro)

Edit: on windows, it says "The Volume Does Not Contain A Recognized File System"

Edit 2: I found two utilities, Diskgenius and m3 data recovery, that claims that it might be able so solve it but I don't know if it's safe... Virustotal doesn't detect a virus

There is a free way to fix this issue. Find from here  Volume Does Not Contain a Recognized File System
