Hello everyone! I'm newbie here. I would like to ask some help on how will I repair my computer. This is a new build and it was working fine until I've finished installing windows. I tried to reformat again but it crashes and cant finish windows installation but if Im in BIOS my PC wont restart or anything its stable.

Here's my build

Asrock b450m steel legend with Bios 3.30p

Ryzen 5 3600

TFORCE Delta RGB 16gb

Crucial P2 NVME 256gb

Thermaltake Smart SE 630w

Zotac RTX 2060

I already tried reseating ram, cpu, videocard, psu cables. Will updating my BIOS fix this problem?

Maybe.  Maybe not.  That’s how troubleshooting works.  You try one thing, see if it does something useful, then try another thing.  You work towards known good.  It can be frustrating.  Sometimes the results of one thing give information.  If it’s crashing logs might be useful.  They sometimes say or imply what crashed.  They can be useful. I notice your build lacks a gpu.  You seem to be looking at a screen though so I suspect there is one unless you’re running headless and looking at stuff on another machine. You say your computer posts and gets into bios fine?

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Its from my old system way back 2014 I think.

Then it should be good maybe. But you can try swapping out the PSU if you have a spare one or you have a friend that has one. My PC also used to randomly restart because of bad PSU and did you update the BIOS as you said you would do?

Not yet sir. I will try tonight. Currently my BIOS version is 3.30P should I update that to the latest (3.60p)?

Yes sir..BIOS is fine. but when I'm about to install windows it restarts.

So the problem is with windows, the windows install, or the drive windows is on.  Possibly PSU because power requirements go up, possibly memory because if it has a flaw it will work until the flaw is reached.

the PSU thing already has someone looking at it.  Updating an out of date bios is also probably a good idea just in general principal aside from problem troubleshooting.  I am curious about the details of this failing windows install.   Doe the drive you want to instal it to come up in bios?

Actually I also tried installing windows on HDD but same thing happens. Should I reset the CMOS first or update the BIOS?

Yes all the drives are visible I can boot to USB also with no problem its like when Im in BIOS everything works fine I even let my pc standy for 30-40 mins. one more thing is that my cpu temp is 43c which I think is high.

I updated the bios but nothing happens

By “nothing happens” are you still able to post to bios?  If so, Ok. Bright side, bios is updated. So no loss. The windows install and the drive it is installed on are what I am finding most interesting.  Is it nvme? M.2 but NOT nvme (this can happen with m&b or b key drives) sata?  Which port? What is make and model of drive?  How was drive installed on? Was it tested on another machine?

Hi, I want you to update about my issue. I tried XMP on my videocard but it still crashes however upon disabling the turbo boost and set to 3.6hz with 1.1volts I installed windows and drivers successfully on my SSD. I tried running benchmark cinebench r15, the first try was successful but the second try restarted and also I wanted to install my OS on my NVME thats why I tried installing windows again but it crashes. Thats why I leave it I'll just use my nvme for games and use SSD for OS. Im pretty sure that the turbo boost making my pc restart.

?? XMP has nothing to do with video cards. “Turbo boost” on what?

a rant about the term “turbo boost”

Spoiler

Turbos are actually a n engine thing on some kinds of engines and have nothing whatsoever to do with computers.  It is used randomly by marketeers to mean “go faster” which can and is done in multiple ways.  As a result “turbo boost” as a term for diagnosing problems means nothing except when it applies to specific systems and then one needs to find out what the “turbo boost” button is actually doing.

Sorry, XMP for RAM. I manually set processor frequency to 3.6 and 1.1 for voltage

Ah.  Your cpu was crashing because you overclocked it.

Hey, I am having the same issue as well, on an ASRock x570 taichi board with a r5 3600x, it restarts every 2 minutes. Do I understand right, you downclocked your cpu and it's working fine now?

He just turned off his overclock

I suggest making your own thread in troubleshooting
