Hi all,

before I start, I don't want to start a discussion over which os is best.

It's probably a bit a strange question with the multiple os's.
And I don't know if it's possible.
But what build would you propose for the details beneath?

If it's not super urgent, is it better to wait a couple of months? Any new things that are going to come out?

Maybe new Mac will be able to run Windows?

Regarding the budget, might look for second hand parts.
Are there parts that should not be bought second hand?

1. Budget (including currency): 800 Euro

2. Country: Europe Benelux

3. Aim:

Would like a workstation open to multiple operating systems. Installed or through virtualisation. Windows Linux & Mac.

I have never used virtualisation before, nor tested it. Do tell me if it's not a good idea.

Why multiple?

Would like to game (games beneath)
Preference for certain uses / programs on certain os's.
Used to interface and file organisation.

Want to be able to go from macbook to workstation without too much issues. External Hard drive compatibility etc.

3a Gaming & Streaming on Linux or Windows

Age of Empires 2 DE
Age of Empires 4

Would like to have the option to stream.

3b Photoshop preferably on Mac
Would use it very often for cleaning & grading

3c Davinci Resolve prefarably on Mac

Would use it ocassionally (/ regularly) to edit & grade.

3e Blender on Mac or Linux or otherwise Windows After Effects on Mac

Would use it seldomly.

3d Web browsing (probably)
Maybe Indesign

Maybe Capture one

4. Monitors:

One monitor
Will need one. Good for photography & grading.
The professional ones are way out of my budget. Let's say a good one for starting out.

5. Other details

I want to make my own pc case. For stylish reasons.

Will probably start out open case to test etc.

I want it to run quiet when fitted in my custom pc case. Quiet PSU needed.

Will spend time on airflow and thermodynamics making the custom case. Will inclued extra fans (big ones) if necessary (do tell me if your suggested build needs extra fans)

No RGB stuff or any of those things. (unless it's cheaper)

Preferably not too big of a build.

6. Why are you upgrading?

First build.

I have a macbook and want this workstation build alongside my macbook.

I know they can't at the moment.
That's why I said maybe will be able to.

I saw a Youtube video today where someone was running Windows on M1 Mac through virtualisation.
It seemed to run pretty smooth, but only very basic things were shown.
