I just installed a new graphics card and now my pc is making a deep hum that you can feel in the floor and above on my desk. (Pc is on floor). I made sure it wasn’t the graphics card by turning the fans off on it then I located the source I think. A hard drive. I am super confused because there is no rattling or a strong source of vibration from the drive but when I boot without the drive it does not make a low hum. I am just confused at this point.

Yeah, that's a HDD for you.

The drive doesn't make a noise on its own, but its spinning disks are causing a vibration.

Sometimes this vibration is actually amplified by the system its self.

You need to try to isolate the HDD with rubber washers, or something similar to resolve this.

Its very common to hear the HDD's, especially if the rest of the system is fairly quiet.

Do what you can to isolate the drives vibrations from the case mounts.

Maybe when you were adding the new GPU you bumped the drive causing it to rest against the case now where it wasn't before?

Maybe you didn't notice it before because your old GPU was too loud in regards to its own fan noise?

And if you suspect this noise has increased, you might run some diags on the drive if the manufacture has any.

I only use SSD's now in my main system but if im in the room where my unraid box is, with HDD's on it, i can hear them plain as day.

Clicking and humming away.
