Error: Unsupported Cpu Installed.

Ailuxes

I have an old HP Pavillion P6000, and I bought a AMD Phenom II X4 955, I could've sworn they were compatible, but it says unsupported, I'm very beginner level with all of this so please bear with me. Please help.

I think it's a FOXCONN 2AA9.

Ah ok.

You have the 125w version of Phenom II 955 processor then.  (C2 stepping)

The board only supports 95w and lower chips.

Oh, that's disappointing. I thought I did my research right :(. Is there anyway to get around this, like to make it work? Or is there no way. Is there anyway you can show me one that is around the same quality but actually compatible? I was dealing with an Amd Athlon II X2 220 in that Pavilion and I was reading that the Phenom II 955 is way better.

If your cpu is C3 stepping non BE, you could try and update the bios.

Ehh, I don't really know what that means.

It means if the Cpu is a BE or Black Edition, the board won't support it.

If it's a non BE, the board might support it, but may need a bios flash. (maybe not, I can't find good direct information on the board and bios updates (yet))

Here's good information on the board.

Should not need an update to support all 95w Phenom II processors.

It should handle a Phenom II x6 1035T for example. But not an 1100T.

So there is no way to make the board support a 125w processor manually?

No you cannot make it support 125w processors. The board is not physically designed to do so.

The Phenom that I got was around 20 dollars, do you think I could find a Phenom II X4 955 that's 95w around that price?

I don't know.... are you in the US?

(I'd go for the 6 core 1035T if cheap enough myself)

I am in the us. Is that 6 core 1035T compatible? And how much do those usually go for?

That would work too.

There were a couple of 95W TDP six-core CPUs from the Phenom II line-up.

The Phenom II X6 1035T was the slower (lower clock frequency) of the bunch.

  • Phenom II X6 1035T -- 2.6 GHz Base / 3.1 GHz Boost, 95W
  • Phenom II X6 1045T -- 2.7 GHz Base / 3.2 GHz Boost, 95W
  • Phenom II X6 1055T -- 2.8 GHz Base / 3.3 GHz Boost, *95W variant*

Any luck getting a Phenom II X6 1055T, at around the price of a Phenom II X6 1035T ?
