Error in bind: Cannot assign requested address

I'm trying to connect to my server program and I keep getting this error on the client side. Here is the snippet of code causing it

Hello!
You cannot use the same code on server and client side. 

The server listens for incoming connections, while the client connects to those. While using bind() and listen() on the server side, a client connects using the connect() function.
 

The call might look just like this: connect(sockey, (struct sockaddr *)&serv_addr, sizeof(serv_addr)

I have since caught this error and fixed it but I still get a connection refused when I try to connect them

Setting up a TCP-Connection has several possible pitfalls. Without seeing your server's code nor knowing your network configuration (are you trying on "localhost"?)

First of all: Be sure, your client and your server can reach each other through the network.
Second: Be sure to listen to all incoming IP-Adresses on your Server: INADDR_ANY in your server-address field at bind(). This allows connecting from any other IP-Address.

Third: Do you handle the accept()-Function on the server?
