Compatibility issues?

funnypmoment

Hey I am looking to upgrade my pc with £300 worth of cpu motherboard and ram. I settled in with a b450 tomahawk max, a ryzen 7 2700x, and 2x8gb corsair vengeance 3200mhz. I looked on the internet and some sites say that the cpu and motherboard are not compatible but some say they are, not sure if i should buy them because I don't want to waste £300~ on pc stuff that doesnt work together. Just thought i should check up with the nerds here to see if I will be fine or not. Thanks.

Yes that CPU is definitely compatible with the motherboard you want. Should work no problem.

Some B450 boards require a BIOS update to work with 3rd gen Ryzen CPUs, but you're getting a 2nd gen CPU so it's not a problem. That's probably why people were talking about compatibility issues though.

I mostly speak from my own past experience from similar problems. My solution may not work for you, but I'll always try my best to help as much as I can. If you want me to see your reply, make sure to quote my comment or mention me @WaggishOhio383, and I'll get back to you as soon as possible.

Nope. No BIOS update at all. And if you ever upgrade to third gen and need to update the BIOS you'll already have a 2nd gen CPU to do that with. Plus a lot of B450 boards now ship with updated BIOS that supports third gen out of the box as well.
