I am having a problem with ;y pc. At first all was well but after a few days i had some trouble. I have a constant buzzing noise coming from the components around my CPU. The PC is not overclocked.

When de pc is in idle mode the noise is louder then when under full load. But now when i try to game my GPU is buzzing as well. But that noise is really loud like its not normal anymore. So i stopt using the pc and blamed the PSU. My PSU i had was a EVGA 700W 80plus. I had some friends test there PSU on my pc and the PSU my brother has is also just 80plus and the buzzing is comming back. When i use my friends PSU what is only 600W, but is a 80plus Gold one from BE Quiet the noise is not there. Could the upgrade to a gold one help my problem?

I payed way to much money on the pc to have a constant buzzing noise there.

PC Specs:

Motherboard: z390 aorus pro wifi-cf (u3e1)

GPU: GigaByte RTX 2080 super 8GB oc

Ram: 4 * 8 GB DDR4 @3600Mhz

CPU: Intel I9-9900k

PSU: EVGA 700W 80plus

Cooling: Corsair H150I pro rgb xt

Case: Thermaltake view 51

It sounds like that is the case since you find a PSU that doesn't result in noise.

However, i wonder if you have a power source problem causing this.

It might be worth looking into a UPS instead of another PSU.

If you have a power source problem, it will wear out the PSU that much quicker.

Personally, i would look at the power source first.

Since you have 2 power supplies resulting in noise, it seems less likely to be two PSU's, although entirely possible.

Especially if they are the same brand, same model, and doubly so if they were purchased at the same time.

Manufactures can get bad components also and/or cut corners that don't work out too well sometimes.

i will see what the new PSU will do. The company said they would send me this one:

https://www.gigabyte.com/Power-Supply/P850GM#kf

Its just weird that on "cheaper" PSU i have the problem and with a PSU of a beter standard i dont have any noise comming from my motherboard.

Also on high loads the PSU also went into a buzzing state 😛

Hope it will work. Need to wait now until they recieve the old one before sending me the new one. What means i will be playing old game on my shit laptop xd

Also its a new house we live in. So all the wiring is less then one year old and here (Belgium) there are very strick rules and a very stong inspection on all the wiring

That doesn't mean a mistake wasn't made.

Maybe the electrician didn't tighten the screw on the ground cable to this circuit in your house.

Very little chance that will be found in any inspection.

Maybe one of the other sockets on this circuit has a bad connection?

Ground issues can exist in a house and not cause problems with most of the house because most things are not quite as sensitive as high end electronics.

For all you know the transformer in the neighborhood is not performing as it should. *shrug*

All im saying is don't assume something new (the house) is eliminated from the realm of possibilities.

I have no expectations of power source issues where i live, in fact quite the opposite, i live close to a major power supplier and have never really had "power issues".

However i would never have my expensive electronics on the wall without a PSU in between. Lightning is a thing as much as a random person smacking into a power pole or what not causing neighborhood outages.

A PSU costs less than $200 and a surge or brownout can cost thousands if it takes out hardware/ appliances. Which happens.

Either way, I agree, you should not be having issues in a new house, but something is obviously amiss somewhere.

Don't discount something just because its new or "shouldn't be the problem".

I swear, the thing you assume could never be the issue, turns out to be the issue every now and then.

A UPS might solve this and has no downside short of cost. It may also prevent future problems which would then be a savings.

A new PSU though, if it does the same thing, is a waste unless you can then return it.

And it may just mask an existing issue, which could lead to it prematurely failing later, which may kill components or even the rest of the system.

I would spend the money on a UPS before another PSU.

I will readily admit though that it is possible you have a couple of bad PSU's.

You might also have something else involved that is causing the noise on your system and not the others.

Are you testing them both on the same circuit in the house?
