Sudden fps drop across games

I have been using HP Omen 15 2020(4600h,1660ti) for a month now. Today I installed Titanfall 2 on a external hard drive but the framerates were lower than I expected. Later I started up Outer Worlds(which usually plays at 50-80fps)(installed on internal SSD) and it was barely able to cross 10 fps. Performance was also way lower on Super Mario Galaxy 2 on Dolphin from my external HDD(It usually runs at stable 60, but today it was ranging from 5-35). Neither the CPU or GPU are reporting temps higher than 50°C, the laptop is plugged in and set to performance mode with maximum fan speed from the HP command center. The main GPU is set to the 1660ti in the Nvidia center. I have updated the Nvidia drivers and Windows and restarted the computer multiple times. The rest of the applications such as firefox are as responsive as before. At this point I'm completely out of ideas. Does anyone else have a clue as to what I can do to fix the issue?
