single stick ok?

Go to solution Solved by jaslion,

It's older amd so performance impact will be little. The board officially supports 8gb of ram total but people seem to just be running it with 16gb no problem so a single 8gb stick should work.

guys pls help me as i am facing a problem on upgrading my ram on my mobo, my mobo's second ram slot dosent seem to work and my mobo is asus m4n68t-m le v2 which has a total 8gb ram capacity and i have a 4gb ram right now, i cant change the mobo cuz i dont have much money and these mobos arent available here, i just wanna know if i can replace the 4gb stick with a single 8gb stick on the working slot? thanks for reading

Ok so, 8GB will work and be an upgrade. (Even in single channel.) But, your going to lose about 20% of performance compared to dual channel, as singe channel ram (ram in only 1 slot) has lower memory bandwidth. Upgrading from 4GB will be a good upgrade, but having 2x4 would be much better.

bro r u sure? i mean i dont know much abt mobos but for your reference the mobo has total 8gb ram capacity(two sticks combined) can a single stick hold 8gig memory?

I just googled and I've found multiple people running this board with 16gb of ram. Usually it was kingston stuff but seems this board allows it for some reason.
