Ryzen 7 3900x or Ryzen 5 5600x?

Hello!

I know someone has probably asked a similar question to this, but I'm currently building a new PC and now picking a CPU. Right now I have an i5-7500, but now I'm thinking of switching over to team red (Sorry Intel). I'm deciding whether I should get a Ryzen 7 3700x or get the new Ryzen 5 5600x whenever it comes out. They're relatively the same price and I know that a Ryzen 7 is more powerful than a Ryzen 5, but I thought with the new generation coming out, it might not be a bad idea to get a 5000 series. The Ryzen 7-5800x is a little bit out of my price range, so that's why I'm asking. I would also probably be getting a B550 motherboard as well.

Which one should I get?

What I Mainly Do:

- Video Editing

- Browsing the Internet

- Graphic Design

- Gaming

Thank you.

It has 8 cores, 16 threads, so better for video editing and graphic design, and plus the Ryzen 5 5600X likely will be out of stock immediately after it launches.

Plus the R7 3700X will be cheap after November 5th.

ragnarok0273 gives good advice here, if your priority is video editing / graphic design work. As an owner of a 3700X, it is a beefy chip, and will remain so for quite a while.

RGB is very overrated.
