Posted October 19, 2020 I have had my computer for a while, 5+ years and have had the same PSU the entire time. I was aware of the PSU tier list but had not looked for my PSU until now. It was in the Potentially dangerous category. EVGA 550w N1 model. I was concerned by this, but I chose EVGA as I have always done for my PSU as I have never had a problem. I just basically want to know, do I need to replace it and if so, what should I replace it with? Also a source for why it is in dangerous would also be good as there are no sources sighted?? Posted October 19, 2020 What are your full system specs? Typically when a PSU is labeled as Dangerous in the tier list it's mainly because it poses a risk to your other components, whether it doesn't have protections against surges and frying your other components or is just a terrible quality unit, most of the time the cheaper units such as the N1 have very little in terms of safety features meaning if the PSU were to blow or a power surge were to fry the unit it would likely fry the other components it is plugged into as well. Posted October 19, 2020 (edited) @bobtheblock You can edit your posts, you don't need to do multiple posts. You should look for a unit in tier B or higher. ~500W+ should do. Edit: I edited my post.
