First time posting here, just trying to find anyone who might have a solution.

So earlier today I upgraded my Ryzen 3 2200G to a Ryzen 7 2700X (took advantage of a Newegg sale) and a 3200mhz 16 gig kit of ram. Because of the higher wattage required by the 2700X I also upgraded to 1 650 Watt 80+ bronze power supply.

So here are the current specs of my PC after the upgrade:

  • Ryzen 7 2700x

  • Corsair vengeance 16 gig 3200mhz kit

  • Azza digital rgb 650 watt PSU

  • Gigabyte ab350m DS3H

  • Western Digital 5400 rpm 1TB HDD

  • Some random Adata 120g sata ssd

  • Windows 10 pro 64 bit

So after wrestling with it all day I got the PC to turn on and I ran into 2 issues.

  1. Not All of my ram is being detected Bios recognizes all 16 gigs of ram, and Windows recognizes that it is all installed but does not mark it under total physical memory. When I open msconfig and go into advanced boot options the maximum ram box is unticked. I've reseated the ram multiple times and that has not solved the problem.

  2. My motherboard audio is not working. I plug in my headphones to the realtek audio drivers on my motherboard and I get no windows notification that they are plugged in and no audio comes through them. When I run my headphones through a built-in audio interface in a microphone I have lying around and it detects as an audio output and functions properly. I have tried updating the drivers from the gigabyte website.

The point is, I'm really looking for solutions for these issues since it's already taken all day to get to this point and can't find other people with the exact same problems.

A thought that may be nothing:

Does that motherboard and cpu work with 3200mhz memory?  If not it may have reverted it to 2133 which could possibly cause other weirdness.  There are fixes for that involving tuning memory.  Requires someone who knows how to tune ryzen memory which is not me.  There are people here that do though.  I could only tell you to enable dhcp but for all I know it could do more harm than good.

I got nothing for the audio.  Implies a different problem which supports the “may be nothing” bit.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.

I've gone in bios to make sure it runs at 3200mhz, it was originally running at 2133. The problem persisted after the fix. But I appreciate any and all thoughts.

Another shot in the dark then: AMD and ryzen is known for a whole buncha buncha bios updates.  If you got an old bios something may have broken in the dozen or more updates since that board came out.

In order to get the cpu to work at all I had to update to the most recent bios

On this subject, I saved my old bios and ended up not actually updating, updating through to the most recent bios now to see if that solves the problem.

OK major update regarding the ram issue.

I did a fresh install of every component outside of the case just to make sure installation wasn't an issue. It was upon doing this that I found that my cpu had multiple bent pins. I attempted to bend the pins back into place using a razor blade, this venture was mostly successful, but one pin broke off. The PC still turns on but the ram issue persisted.

I then discovered that I had not in fact updated the bios as I originally thought I had. After updating all the way to the most recent bios for my motherboard, the ram problem still persisted. I then updated the chip set driver but to no avail.

Just thought I'd share what has been done since I made this thread. Hopefully I find a solution soon.
