So I am currently building my first ever dedicated gaming PC. I bought a Ryzen 9 3900x CPU with 32 GB of RAM and all the other parts I need for the PC. The only thing I am struggling with is the GPU. My current system has a 1050TI and I have been thinking about which direction should I go for the GPU. Because I know the new RTX 30xx cards are being Scalped right now way over there price and I might not even have luck trying to get a RTX 3070. Also on the other hand I could wait till Big Navi comes out and see what they have to offer. Or should I just go and buy a RTX 2070 card. Or just keep the 1050TI until next year when all the pricing seems to slow down. I am excited for this new PC and I want to build it but still I have no idea the direction I should take towards getting a GPU.

a tad overkill for gaming PC, but sure, why not

well first off it was on sale on amazon as a bundle and could not pass it by xD. and second my monitor right now is a 1080P 60hz monitor but I plan on upgrading it to at least a 144hz monitor down the road more like next year down the road. I am not sure if I want a 1440 or 1080 for the new monitor.

lol, it wont make much difference in games over the 3600 for today's titles, a 3700x is PROBABLY more than enough for a couple years down the road.

that said, it wont negatively impact your gaming performance, so all good

hmm... i would say you can look at 1440p if the price isnt too far off

i own a 3900x+2070S and i can crank most games to high~very high settings and still face CPU bound scenarios for AAA titles at 1080p.

i would say 3070 is good for 1440p if you're willing to turn some graphical settings, it's a tad overkill for 1080p

2070 is a slightly overkill for 1080p, but if you want to lock that fps real high, it's the way to go.

I am only asking because it sounds like 3070 is going to be hard to get with the scalpers and I want something to where I can buy and still be fine couple of years down the road of having. with that being said I did find a refurbished RTX 2070 Super for $479 but still its like should I try and take my chances on trying to get a 3070. This is all so confusing and hard for me with the current market of GPUs I have no idea what to do.

idk about current gpu prices, but that sounds a tad high to me?

given the 3070 is RUMORED to be same as 2080ti, at $500 (if you can get one at that price)

personally, i would stick with the 1050ti until i can order the 3070 or something

it's no rush, really

Going to be honest, given how bad availability is right now unless you buy a scalped card you are going to be waiting until the Big Navi drop anyway.

Wait for the reviews when AMD drops it and you can make and informed decision then.

Under normal circumstances I wouldn't touch an AMD graphics card with a 10 foot pole but given how badly Nvidia has shit the bed with their launch I am willing to look at AMD right now. If they have something on par with the 3080 and undercut it on price I'll likely end up picking one up.

the prices of 2080 ti or supers or any 2080 are insanely high right now there close to $800 used on ebay with them being over $1k new on amazon or newegg idk what the pricing for these cards are doing but its just weird.

eeeh, just wait till things settle down, it's all a jumbled mess right now imo

besides, we dont even have benchmarks, so no point deciding now

and new GPU are stil coming out

So out of curiosity what would you guys think good prices are for a 2080 Super or a 2070 Super used ones. I am thinking about haggling price and just was like thinking about all the options on the table of course I am still waiting to see what AMD will do with Big Navi. But I am curious if I could get a low enough price if I should just jump on it but I am not sure what that price would be.
