Naga Epic Not Recognized

Go to solution Solved by LodepUSA,

Try Start> Control panel > Power Options > Change plan settings > Change Advanced power settings. Go to usb settings, make sure usb selective suspend setting is disabled.

YOU sir are the person i love the most right now... sounds bad with my girlfriend next to me, but i love you!! followed the instructions you gave to another member and it happened to be the fix to my problem. changed the usb settings and BOOM! pc recognized, installed and ran my Naga Epic.

Thank you very much and may god bless you with many children... and money to raise them :D

hello everyone! i´m in desperate need for help. where can i begin... i bought a razer naga epic mouse and its been giving me problems since day 1. my pc is running windows 7 ultimate x64 and it won´t recognize the mouse and it will give an error that says "usb device not recognized" and mark it as "unknown device" in devices and printers.

i returned the mouse in exchange for another in case it was DOA, but the new one gave me the same problem. since then i did everything i could think of: updated bios, chipset, every driver on my pc and am still getting negative results. downloading the razer driver or synapse doesn´t resolve anything because it does not detect any razer device (since windows doesn´t even know what device it is).

i am out of ideas and need help.

my motherboard is an -ASUS P8H61-M LE (H61 B3 Revision), processor: intel i3-2100 3.10GHz, 8GB ram, Graphics card is NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 Ti.

thank you for everything in advance, and let´s see if we can solve this together. :D

My pc has no USB 3.0 ports, so that isn´t gonna be the problem, if only it was that easy...

Did you try every USB port or maybe another computer, like a laptop to see if the mouse is the one causing the problem?

i did try every single usb port i have (10 USB ports total) and same problem in every single port; also tested the mouse on my girlfriends laptop, cousins laptop, and multiple friends laptops and desktops (some windows 7 and some windows 8) so i would say the mouse is ok, and the problem is in my rig.

Edit: no other usb device is giving any issues (logitech G19, Mx performance mouse, c310 webcam and G35 headset (im not a logitech fanboy if you´re wondering xD))

You could always get a USB hub, or if you've got a keyboard with a USB port on it.

Okay, at least we know it's somewhere in your rig and it's probably the motherboard. have you updated all the drivers including the USB drivers?

It's a wireless mouse right? Do you use it wired or wireless?

at first i used it wireless with the dock reciever plugged into the pc, it gave me the error, then used it wired, plugging the mouse directly into the pc in wired mode and still have the same error. so doesn´t matter if its wired or wireless, it is giving me the same problem, "USB device not recognized".

Okay, so just to make it clear, it's working fine on other people's laptops and only on your PC it doesn't work right?

First off, download the Legacy Standalone drivers and Synapse here: http://drivers.razersupport.com/index.php?_m=downloads&_a=view&parentcategoryid=90&pcid=229&nav=0,76,229&_m=downloads&_a=view&parentcategoryid=90&pcid=229&nav=0,76,229 Just to make sure we get this out of the way.

Next up is look at the bottom of the mouse and check if it's on or off. I'm not really sure since I don't really have any experience with wireless mice.

Last resort would be to buy a USB hub and connect the mouse from there to test it.

working perfect on other people´s pc only problems are with my pc. i have already installed both razer drivers (legacy and synapse) before posting my problem here and none would recognize a device since windows would mark it as "unknown device", the mouse doesn´t have on/off switch, it has a wireless/wired switch (i have it on the correct side depending whether im testing it wired or wireless).

the only thing i have right now that can act as a usb hub, is my keyboard that has 2 USB ports, and it gives me the same problem plugging it in these ports too.

I don't really know how to pinpoint the main problem here, but how did you do it on other people's computers?

i didn´t have to do anything really. just plug the mouse in and windows would automatically detect and install the plug n play drivers and you could use the mouse normally like any other usb mouse, the only exception is if you wanted to use the full power of it you have to install razers software to be able to program the buttons, lights, dpi, etc. that´s why i don´t understand whats wrong with my pc, because windows doesn´t even recognize it as a mouse, keyboard or anything.

Maybe it has something to do with your USB BIOS setting on your motherboard, so maybe you could check it out?

There's just too many factors to make a coherent decision right now.

No problem, I guess try contacting Razer about it would be the last resort?

Last question, have you updated the dock?

i have updated both the dock and the mouse firmware to the latest using a friends pc. if nobody else has any other ideas i´m gonna have to contact razer, haven´t heard really good comments about their customer service, but i´ll have to give it a try

  • 3 years later...

Bringing an old thread back from the grave but thought it warrents a comment.

Legend!

Had issues with my naga epic chroma not charging in the dock, and ocassional odd button clicks. Disabling usb selective suspend fixed this.

Synapse really needs to be able to check for things like this that are going to cause issues. grrrr
