the noctua list even the smaller Define C as compatible with the case max height 170mm while the define 7 max height is 185mm

you still have doubt ?

btw define 7 is not on the list because its a new case

Hi!

I am looking to transfer my current system to a new case, but was wanting to make sure that I had enough clearance for my CPU cooler.

I measured from the base of the motherboard to the top of the cooler or in my case the fan on the heat-sink, and I measured ~18.1 - 18.2 cm or ~181 - 182 mm

Now the case I am looking at has a CPU clearance of 185mm and I'm not sure if they mean from the motherboard, the back of the case, or from the socket outward.

My CPU cooler is a Nocuta NH-D15 cooler, with the tops of the fans ~22 mm above the heat-sink.

Let me know if you think the case can accommodate my cooler!

Thanks!

Go to pcpartpicker.com and input your specs with the case you want and cooler, if it's compatible it will say so if it's not it will say it's not. Otherwise what case do you want?

I was looking at the Fractal define 7. On PcPartpicker it says "some physical dimension restrictions cannot (yet) be automatically checked, such as cpu cooler / RAM clearance with modules using tall heat spreaders."

On their website they say 160 mm without fan. Do you know if that is measured from the bottom of the heat-sink to the top of the heat pipes that are sticking out the top or just to that flat surface on top of the heat-sink?

did you see the finished builds I posted above ?

Didn't realize that Noctua had a list of compatible cases.  Thanks for the link! It would seem that there shouldn't be any problem with the case and cooler.

Thanks for the help!
