I have Dell Inspiron 5680 pre-built from Costco. I thought it would be more cost effective to buy a pre-built and continue to replace parts as time goes by. I'm looking to upgrade my graphics card to a GeForce RTX 2060. I know that my i7-8700 @ 3.2GHz is compatible but should I look into upgrading that as well and other parts. I'm currently saving money right now and I plan to buy the stuff closer to the holidays. I appreciate any help I can get. Also I didn't know if this was the appropriate sub-category to post my question. Or are there other GPUs you would recommend that are compatible with a CPU like mine? Thanks!

That PC comes with a 1660 Ti, upgrading to a 2060 is sort of a shitty upgrade. Wait for RDNA2

And no, an 8700 won't bottleneck it. It won't bottleneck anything really

Being a prebuilt, does it have 1 stick of ram or they put 2 sticks there to benefit from dual channel memory ? ...  It can lead to some unexpected increase in performance going from 1 stick to 2 stick.

Also as the other said before, wait a bit and see what's coming.  Also, before changing the gpu you should check if your psu is powerful enough to handle it and have the proper power connectors.
