So I have built a few PCs before but never experienced this so am looking for a bit of help troubleshooting and getting help figuring out what this is.  It’s been about 6 years since my last full build so I’m a bit rusty.  Pc specs below

core i7 10700k

msi z490 I unify its board

1TB nvme sad in the main slot (WD black)

2x16 crucial ballistics ddr4 3200 32gb mem

silberstone sfx-l 800 watt psu

noctua air cooler with 2 nocturnal fans push pull

windows 10 home usb drive

so I boot into the bios fine.  Insert my install usb drive, then X out of the bios and it loads into the windows installer.  Follow prompts, select the only drive attached (WD nvme 1tb) and use express settings to get it done quick.  It goes through the motions, I select user and create a password and eventually after a restart it loads into windows.  Now I am not connected to Ethernet so I just go to start and then shut down.  Pc shuts down, I wait a min or so and press the power button.  Now I am just sitting stuck at the “Meg” splash screen of MSI.  No dots loading in a circle or anything.  Just frozen on the mobo splash screen.  What would cause that?

In the BIOS, the "quick start" or "rapid boot" (names vary) have been known to cause this.

NOTE: I no longer frequent this site. If you really need help, PM/DM me and my e.mail will alert me.

Ugh no that doesn’t seem to be the issue....

reset the CMOS, went into bios, cleareed the drive and disabled the bios quick boot thing.  Inserted my usb windows installer, saved bios changes, restarted, installed windows, made it to desktop and then shut down like last time.  Rebooted after a min and I still get stuck on the MEG MSI mobo splash screen.  It’s just stuck.

OK so I think I’m making progress!!!!

I started troubleshooting hardware and when I removed one of the 16GB sticks of ram and just left the stick in slot 2, I tried installing windows and then shut down.  Went to power on again and lo and behold...the windows log in finally showed up!!!! Looks like it’s a ram issue or a mobo ram slot issue.  Hoping for the former rather than a mobo issue at this point.  Going to pull ram from old build and see if that works or if I get the same issue, that will tell me if the mobo or ram is the issue.  Thanks for the help. Will update thread in am.
