So, I have a Coolmax CP-500T 500w PSU in my system and I've been mining Litecoins lately. I'm getting around 160-170KHs with my 650ti but I've also been mining with my 8800GTS. It only does 22KHs but it makes my room nice and toasty. Even with no load on the CPU my computer seems to shut off when I leave it alone. (Power light blinks, won't turn back on until I flip the switch on the PSU off and back on.) The GPUs combined should only be using like 200w or so tops. The PSU intake faces downward so it's not taking in hot air from the 8800 and even with the fan switch on high instead of auto it still happens.. (First time this happened was when I accidentally had the fan completely off and I was playing BF4.)

Anything I can do to stop my PSU overheating and still be able to keep my room toasty? (Aside from buying a decent PSU. I could make a cooling mod to it if anyone had a good idea on how to.)

you could take the side of your case off, and if you have a big enough fan you could just have it blow air into your now open case.

Yeh that'd definitely help, like one of those large box fans or maybe a pedestal.

No. Not really enough room since it's under my desk next to my chair. Besides, I don't wanna ruin the prettiness of my case.

I would just put a case fan and blow air into the power supply to keep it cool.

The intake is on the bottom. I don't think that would actually help anything.

But is the fan on the power supply keeping it cool enough? If not, you could have a case fan in front of the psu honeycomb holes as exhaust to help push the hot air away from your power supply.

I can feel a decent amount of air moving through it. I don't understand why it was folding on both GPUs fine for hours just fine earlier but it shut off when I wasn't in my room..

This is what the 8800 above the PSU looks like:

I took out my other 8800GTS card which hasn't been modified and put duct tape over the vents so the air goes out of the back instead of down onto the PSU. It is running about 15F warmer mining (170F/77C right now) but since the air is going out the back the PSU is cooler. I'll try it like this for a while. (This is the card with a couple busted capacitors, but it still works just fine.)
